Natural stone jewelry is durable but benefits from gentle care. Follow these guidelines to keep your pieces looking beautiful for years.
Daily Wear
- Put your jewelry on last: After perfume, lotions, and hairspray.
- Take it off first: Before showering, swimming, or exercising.
- Avoid harsh chemicals: Cleaning products, chlorine, and saltwater can damage stones and metals.
Cleaning
- Soft cloth: Wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth after each wear to remove oils.
- Mild soap: For deeper cleaning, use lukewarm water and a drop of mild soap. Pat dry.
- Avoid: Ultrasonic cleaners, harsh brushes, and abrasive cloths.
Storage
- Individual pouches: Store each piece separately to prevent scratches.
- Cool, dry place: Avoid direct sunlight and humidity.
- Lay flat: Necklaces should be laid flat or hung to prevent tangling.
Stone-Specific Care
- Soft stones (selenite, malachite): Keep dry. Wipe only with a dry cloth.
- Porous stones (turquoise, lapis): Avoid water exposure. Polish with a dry cloth.
- Hard stones (quartz, onyx): Most durable. Can be cleaned with mild soap and water.
Leather Cords
Genuine leather can darken and soften with wear — this is normal patina. Avoid prolonged water exposure. Condition occasionally with a leather conditioner if needed.
